The Tigers of Jackson State are the new number one team with 13 first-place votes and 218 points in the 2026 HBCU-PSMA Black College Major Division Football Poll.

South Carolina State slips to the number two spot with 10 first place votes and 214 points. The Morgan State Bears make their presence felt at number three with  2 first place votes and 118 points . Alabama State falls to the fourth spot with 88 points and Alabama A&M rounds out the top five with 39 points.

1.  Jackson  State Tigers  (5-0)
2.  South Carolina State Bulldogs  (5-1)
3.  Morgan State Bears (4-1)
4.  Alabama State Hornets (3-2)
5.  Alabama A&M Bulldogs (4-2)

Others Receiving Votes: Grambling State, Prairie View A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Delaware State

Meanwhile, the Edward Waters Tigers  are the new number one team in the Mid-Major division, garnering 13  first-place votes and 160 points. Johnson C. Smith remains at number two with one first-place vote and 156 points. Virginia State sits tight at third with a first place vote and 138 points, Virginia Union is steadfast at number  four with a first place vote and 130 points, and Kentucky State falls to number five despite receiving 7 first place votes  but only garnering 103 points to  round out the top five.

1.  Edward Waters University Tigers  (5-1)
2. Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (4-1)
3. Virginia State Trojans (5-1)
4. Virginia Union University Panthers (5-1)
5.  Kentucky State Thorobreds (4-2)
