Florida A&M jumps back on top in Major division while Benedict College in Mid-Major division solidifies its grip at the top in week eleven of HBCU-PSMA’s Black College football polls.
In the Major division, Florida A&M moves back into the top spot for the third time this season garnering all 20 first place votes, while last week’s top team, North Carolina Central, dropped to the second spot after a stunning 50-20 loss to now number six ranked Howard University. Jackson State, Alabama State and Alcorn State round out the top five. Following Howard University are Prairie View A&M, Tennessee State and Grambling State with a log jam of Hampton University, Morgan State and Southern University sharing the last spot in the top ten.

Meanwhile, Coach Chennis Berry and his Tigers of Benedict College remain in the realm of perfection at number one in the Mid-Major division. The Purple and Gold garnered 200 points and 20 first place votes. They are followed by Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, Virginia State, Miles, Fort Valley State, Johnson C Smith and Tuskegee with Albany State and Allen University share the number nine spot to complete the top ten of the Mid-Major division.

Pollsters comprise a cross-section of HBCU media members, including eight different media organizations. These voters cover all four HBCU football-playing conferences, and reside in 11 different states.

The HBCU-PSMA
Established in 2021, the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association is an organization of professionals providing multimedia coverage of Historically Black College and University sports, as well as professional sports.
The purpose of the association is to transform and empower the culture of media by providing informative broadcast stories, rich contextual reporting and inspirational photography of the marginalized by educating, inspiring, and informing a global community.
