North Carolina Central in Major division and Benedict College in Mid-Major division remain at the top in week ten of HBCU-PSMA’s Black College football polls.

In the Major division, the North Carolina Central Eagles are once again back at the top garnering 191 points and 11 first place votes holding down the top spot and were followed by Florida A&M who snatched up the remaining nine first place votes, Jackson State, Alcorn State and Tennessee State rounding out the top five. Alabama State, Hampton, Southern, Prairie View and Howard filled out the top spots. Grambling State dropped out of the top ten this week.

Meanwhile, Coach Chennis Berry and his Tigers of Benedict College are golden at number one in the Mid-Major Division. The Purple and Gold garnered 198 points and 18 first place votes. They are followed by Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, Virginia State, Miles, Fort Valley State, Albany State, Johnson C Smith Tuskegee, and Florida Memorial to complete the top ten of the Mid-Major division.

Pollsters comprise a cross-section of HBCU media members, including eight different media organizations. These voters cover all four HBCU football-playing conferences, and reside in 11 different states.

The HBCU-PSMA

Established in 2021, the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association is an organization of professionals providing multimedia coverage of Historically Black College and University sports, as well as professional sports.

The purpose of the association is to transform and empower the culture of media by providing informative broadcast stories, rich contextual reporting and inspirational photography of the marginalized by educating, inspiring, and informing a global community.
