South Carolina State maintains its hold on the top spot in the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association 2026 Black College Major Division Football Poll with 24 first place votes and 240 total points. Under head coach Chennis Berry, the Bulldogs have been number one in the Major Division since the Pre-Season Poll.
The Hornets of Alabama State sting their way back into second place with 176 points. Jackson State slips to number three with 152 points, Prairie View A&M is fourth with 48 points and Grambling State claws its way into the Major Division top five with 36.

Meanwhile, the Benedict College Tigers maintain a grasp on the top spot in this week’s Mid-Major Division with 24 first place votes and 240 total points. Johnson C. Smith is as golden as its mascot the Golden Bulls at the number two spot with their 130 points.Virginia State is third with 128 points, the Broncos of Fayetteville State are fourth with 48 points and Virginia Union rounds out the top five.
