South Carolina State University maintains its hold on the top spot with 16 first place votes and 160 points in the HBCU-PSMA 2026 Black College Football Major Division Poll. The Bulldogs, under head coach Chennis Berry, have been number one since the pre-season poll.
Jackson State sneaks back into second with 104 points while Alabama State slips to number three with 92 points. Prairie View A&M is fourth with 60 points, and Delaware State continues to round out the Major Division top five with 44 points.

Meanwhile, Benedict College maintains its grasp on the top spot in this week’s Mid-Major Division with 16 first place votes and 160 points. Johnson C. Smith put some respect on its name as the Golden Bulls barge back into the number two spot with 96 points. Virginia State is third with 76 points. The Broncos of Fayetteville State are fourth with 60 points and Virginia Union rounds out the top five with 32 points.
