North Carolina Central University Eagles and Benedict College Tigers remain at the top in week seven of HBCU-PSMA’s Black College football polls.
Pittsburgh, PA: North Carolina Central Head Coach Trei Oliver his Eagles continue their flight above the field at the top of the Major Division of the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association Black College Football Poll.
The Eagles of NCCU, who along with Florida A&M were not in action this past weekend, garnered 196 points and 16 first place votes holding down the top spot followed by Florida A&M, who snatched up the remaining four first place votes. Tennessee State, Jackson State and Alcorn State round out the top five. Southern University, Alabama State, Hampton University, Alabama A&M and Prairie View A&M complete the top ten. Grambling State and Howard University fell from the top ten poll this week.

Meanwhile, Coach Chennis Berry and his Tigers of Benedict College are still growling and chomping at number one in the Mid-Major division. The Purple and Gold garnered 199 points and 19 first place votes. They are followed by the only other undefeated team in all Black College football. Coach Henry Frazier and his Trojans of Virginia State are also 7-0 on the season. Virginia Union, Fayetteville State and Allen University round out the top five. Miles College, Fort Valley State,Tuskegee, Johnson C Smith, and West Virginia State complete the top ten of the Mid-Major division. Albany State fell out of the top ten this week.

Pollsters comprise a cross-section of HBCU media members, including eight different media organizations. These voters cover all four HBCU football-playing conferences, and reside in 11 different states.

The HBCU-PSMA
Established in 2021, the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association is an organization of professionals providing multimedia coverage of Historically Black College and University sports, as well as professional sports.
The purpose of the association is to transform and empower the culture of media by providing informative broadcast stories, rich contextual reporting and inspirational photography of the marginalized by educating, inspiring, and informing a global community.
