Florida A&M and Benedict College own top spots on the HBCU-PSMA Black College Football Polls
Pittsburgh, PA: Coach Willie Simmons and his Florida A&M Rattlers are the number one team on the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association Black College Football Poll for the first time this season.
The Rattlers garnered 193 points on their way to the top and were followed by North Carolina Central, Jackson State, Tennessee State and Hampton rounding out the top five. Prairie View A&M, Norfolk State, Grambling State, Alabama A&M and Howard completed the top ten in the Major Division. Southern and Morgan State sit just outside the top ten with 18 and 11 points respectively.

Meanwhile Coach Chennis Berry and his Tigers of Benedict College are number one in the Mid-Major division. The Purple and Gold garnered 189 points and 18 first place votes to claim the top spot followed by Virginia State, Tuskegee, Bowie State and Allen rounding out the top five. Fort Valley State, Miles, West Virginia State, Fayetteville State, Johnson C Smith complete the top ten of the Mid-Major division. Albany State and Savannah State are on the prowl outside of the top ten with 19 and 10 points respectively.

Pollsters comprise a cross-section of HBCU media members, including eight different media organizations. These voters cover all four HBCU football-playing conferences, and reside in 11 different states.
The HBCU-PSMA
Established in 2021, the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association is an organization of professionals providing multimedia coverage of Historically Black College and University sports, as well as professional sports.
The purpose of the association is to transform and empower the culture of media by providing informative broadcast stories, rich contextual reporting and inspirational photography of the marginalized by educating, inspiring, and informing a global community.
